Shane Duffy was born in Derry, Northern Ireland on Jan. 1 1992. He started his professional playing career from Derry. In 2007, he played for the Northern Ireland national football team at the U16, leaving a deep impression to David Moyes, the manager of Everton. Then he became a member of the first team to participate in the pre-season friendlies. He accomplished his first appearance in a match against AEK Athens in the UEFA Europa League in 2009, taking the place of injured Sylvain Distin. He was loaned to other clubs in most of his time, including Burnley, Scunthorpe and Yeovil.
In 2014, Shane Duffy became a regular member of the Blackburn Rovers for a large sum of transfer fee. In Aug. 2016, Duffy won 2 own goals in a league match against Cardiff City, ending with being sent off in the final minutes. For outstanding performances in competitions, he transferred to Brighton & Hove Albion by a four year contract. Besides, he is also an excellent football player of the Northern Ireland football team and Ireland national football team.
